MonkeyContact: Quickly Find People On Multiple Social Networks [Chrome]

MonkeyContact, a Google Chrome app, allows you to find people by name, company, location, job function, email, or a combination of several of these. It gives you a more intelligent search with better results from popular social networking websites. Furthermore, you can find people and their contact information from Google as well. MonkeyContact comes in particularly handy for people with a large number of contacts and many different online accounts. It retrieves your contacts from all these sources, and enables you to find people through multiple search criteria.

MonkeyContact uses four popular social networking sites to find people you know, viz LinkedIn, Facebook, Google and Angel List. The more the accounts you connect to, the better search results you get.

Google Flights: Find & Book Flights With The Cheapest Fares

Yet another useful web service by Google, Google Flights allows travellers to search for cheap air fares for different destinations in the US. Users can also search by different airlines that are flying on different dates. To get the rates of different airlines, select your destination, and Google Flights will allow you to filter results by date, duration and price. Flight results change as you apply different filters. Furthermore, it lets you select the flight you want to book and purchase your ticket from the airline’s website.

To begin searching for flights, select a departure city from the drop down menu, or simply type it in and choose a destination where you want to go. Google Flights allows users to quickly filter results by price, date, flight duration and airline.

Google Flights gives users a list of search results that allows them to easily choose an airline. Clicking one of the results also displays all other similar available flights.

Click the calendar icon on the extreme right of the Depart/Return bar to open a calendar to specify a time duration within you want to depart. The lowest available fares during that time period are displayed to the right of the calendar, in form of a bar graph. Click return to select a Return or One Way trip.

You will find a graph icon to the right of the Price/Duration bar. Click this to open a graph of Price with respect to Duration. You can click and drag along each axis to change its value and filter results accordingly.

Metro7: Get Windows 8 Style Metro Start Screen In Windows 7

Since the release of the Windows 8 Developer’s Preview, there has been a lot of talk about the pros and cons of using the Metro UI. If you are one of those users who are thinking of sticking with Windows 7 or just cannot upgrade to Windows 8, you can still enjoy the Metro UI. Metro7 is a widget filled application that brings the Metro UI style interface to your Windows 7 desktop. It provides instant access to built-in widgets and a custom store from where you can install more applications. Obviously, the applications are not the ones that you would find in the original Windows 8 operating system, but some of them (like the weather app), come pretty close to providing you with the functionality of the real Metro applications.

After installation, Metro7 can be launched from a simple shortcut after which the Metro UI appears. The widgets of this UI provide time and date information, access to built-in metro store, weather application, and shortcuts to numerous websites like Facebook and Badoo. Clicking the arrow on the top right-side displays additional options, which allow you to pin any application as a metro tile, configure application settings and exit the metro interface.

To receive weather alerts, click the weather widget, enter your city name, click search and select your city’s name from the search result. Once done, you will get instant weather updates from the metro interface (as shown in the first screenshot). You can also select the time interval after which you would like to check for weather updates.

Clicking the main weather widget (once it has been configured) displays a five day weather forecast for the selected city.

Similarly, you can go to Settings and enable/disable full screen mode, widget animation, windows taskbar and set Metro7 to automatically start with system startup.

To add more applications to the Metro UI, head over to the Metro Store and select an application.

Overall, Metro7 is a good application for emulating the Windows 8 MetroUI style interface on your Windows 7 desktop, however, it still seems to be under construction as some of the widgets simply lead to a blank page and many of the website shortcuts on the main interface seem to be there to fill the main interface. Metro 7 has been developed for Windows 7.

Google Now Remembers Your Old Password, If you Try To Log In With It

Google is known for its smartness. And this time Google has shown another example of this. Now Google remembers your old password and will notify you when you want to login with your older password after you have changed it. Google will tell you that there is a new password which was changed the day before and you can change the password again if the last change was not made by you.

Google explained about this in a post saying,”It looks like you’ve attempted to sign in using an old password. If you remember changing your password, just sign back in using your most recent password. If you remember changing your password but have forgotten your new one, you can regain access to your account.”

“If you don’t remember changing your password, someone else might have accessed your account and changed your password. In some cases, your previous recovery email or phone might be available on the password assistance page for resetting your password. If that’s not the case, you’ll have the option to fill out our account recovery form to verify your identity and reclaim your account,” it added.

This new feature will be useful in case of account being hacked. You can easily get back your hacked account. Many times hackers the change recovery options too. So this feature will help users to recover the account in case.

Google always looks forward to make its service more secure and user friendly. This is also a nice example of Google’s attempt in this way.
